Quality vs. Speed Tips
Use higher 'Steps' to reduce noise, but be aware that after a certain point, quality improvements become minimal (diminishing returns) while rendering time increases drastically.
Benefits of Video Masking
The masking feature is extremely useful if the reference video contains multiple characters but you only want to mimic the movement of one individual without affecting other elements.
Wan Model Flexibility
Wan is known as one of the most 'uncensored' models available. You can use various specific LoRAs (Low-Rank Adaptation) to change character styles or add specific actions not found in the base model.

Step by Step
Initial Configuration for Wan Animate Photo Animate
- Open the Wan2GP main menu and select the 'Animate' feature.
- Choose the first mode (Photo Animate), which allows you to transfer motion from a reference video to a character in a static image.
- Click on the 'Upload Reference Video' section to upload the source video containing the movement you want to replicate.
- Use the 'Outpaint' option if you need to zoom out on the video's composition.
- Upload your static character image in the 'Upload Reference Character' section.
- Set the 'Resolution' up to 1080p based on your quality requirements.
- Adjust the 'Aspect Ratio' and determine the 'Number of Frames' (e.g., 81 frames at 30fps results in a 2.7-second video).
- Set the 'Steps' value; use a higher value for better quality or a lower value for faster generation.
Creating Automatic Video Masks
- Click the 'Load Video' button to process the uploaded reference video.
- Use the 'Automatic Mask' feature by clicking on the subject or the character's body parts in the video (e.g., click on the clothes or face).
- Continue clicking on other parts until the entire character whose motion you want to clone is covered by the (colored) mask.
- Use the 'Expand' or 'Shrink' functions in the mask settings to fine-tune the selection area.
- Click the 'Export to Control Video Input and Video Mask Input' button to automatically send the mask data to the Wan Animate tab.
Advanced Mode Settings & Generation
- Enable 'Advanced Mode' to access additional technical controls.
- Adjust the 'CFG' (Classifier-Free Guidance) value; use high values for the AI to follow the prompt precisely, and low values for more creative results.
- Select the video generation 'Algorithm' (it is recommended to stay on the 'Default' setting for new users).
- Use the 'Step Skipping' section (T-cache or Meg-cache) to speed up the rendering process by up to 2.5 times if necessary.
- Enter a descriptive prompt in the 'Prompt' text box to define the background or additional actions.
- Click the 'Generate' button to start the process (the system will automatically download the Wan Animate model on its first use).
