Step by Step
How to Edit Video Using Text (Text-Based Editing)
- Open the Descript app or access it via their official website.
- Upload the audio or video file you want to edit to the platform.
- Wait for Descript's AI to automatically transcribe your video into text.
- Locate the parts of the video you want to remove within the displayed text script.
- Highlight the unwanted words or sentences using your cursor.
- Press the 'Delete' key on your keyboard.
- Confirm that the video has been automatically edited in sync with the deleted text without needing to use the 'Split tool' manually.
Using the AI Suite for Video & Audio Quality
- Click on the AI Suite menu in the editing panel.
- Select the 'Studio Sound' feature to automatically process standard recorded audio into studio-quality sound.
- Select the 'Edit for Clarity' menu to let the AI suggest which parts should be removed (such as filler words) to make the video more concise.
- Enable the 'Eye Contact' feature to correct your gaze using AI technology so it always looks like you're looking at the camera.
- Use the 'Center Active Speaker' feature if you're editing a two-person podcast to focus the visual on the person currently speaking.
Translation (Dubbing) & Subtitle Export Process
- Go to the transcription section and select the 'Translate' menu.
- Choose your desired target languages (you can select up to 5 languages simultaneously).
- Wait for the AI to process the script translation and dub the voice into the selected languages.
- Click the 'Export' button at the top right of the screen.
- Select the 'Subtitles' format and choose the languages you want to display (you can include the original or translated languages).
- Select the 'Transcript' format if you need the translated text for a website or article.
- Click 'Download' to save the file to your computer.
