Benefits of Source Filtering
By limiting your information sources, the AI won't get 'confused' by general information or conflicting topics. This results in sharper, more technical answers that are free from irrelevant noise.
The AI 'Generalization' Issue
If you leave all documents selected, NotebookLM will attempt to synthesize information from every document provided. This often leads to answers being too brief (surface-level summaries) and lacking depth.
