Benefits of Direct Integration

With this latest update, you no longer need to switch tabs to notebooklm.google.com. All source management and AI interactions can be handled in-situ within the Gemini ecosystem.

Quick Access to Existing Notebooks

You can also bring existing notebooks into a standard Gemini chat by clicking the '+' (Plus) icon and selecting 'more uploads' to access the list of notebooks from your Google account.

Source Flexibility (Mix and Match)

NotebookLM within Gemini allows you to combine various source formats (PDFs, Google Docs, website URLs) in a single project for a more comprehensive analysis.
Step by Step

How to Set Up a NotebookLM Project in Google Gemini

  1. Go to the Google Gemini website at gemini.google.com.
  2. Look at the sidebar on the left side of the screen to find a new section titled 'Notebooks'.
  3. Click on the option to create a new notebook within that section.
  4. Enter a suitable name for your notebook in the provided name field.
  5. Click the 'Create' button to generate the notebook project.
  6. Once you are in the notebook view, click the 'Add sources' button to import reference documents.
  7. Choose a source upload method: 'Upload files' (files from your computer), 'Google Drive', or enter a direct link via 'Website'.
  8. If using a web link, enter the website URL and click 'Insert'.
  9. Once the sources have finished processing, you can start typing questions or instructions to interact with the AI based on those reference materials directly within Gemini.
