OpenClaw AI Agent Installation & Configuration Process
- Set up a separate computer or environment (such as a VPS, an old laptop, or a Mac Mini) to run OpenClaw to ensure your personal data remains secure.
- Make sure the computer has been formatted (wipe clean) and logged out of all personal accounts before you begin.
- Visit the official website at openclaw.ai.
- Scroll down to the 'Quick Start Oneliner' section and copy the provided command.
- Open the Terminal application on your computer.
- Paste the command into the Terminal and press Enter.
- Confirm any additional installation prompts that appear on the Terminal screen.
- On the onboarding screen, read the security warnings carefully and select 'Yes, I understand this is powerful and inherently risky and continue' to proceed.
- Select the AI model you want to use as the 'brain' of your agent (e.g., Claude Opus or GPT-4).
- Connect your AI account by choosing a connection method: OAuth, token setup, or API Key.
- Set up the 'Channel' or messaging app you'll use to control your computer (choose between WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage).
