Steps to Create an Interactive Study Aid in NotebookLM
- Go to notebooklm.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
- Click the '+ New Notebook' button on the main dashboard to start a new learning project.
- In the 'Add sources' window, choose the type of source you want to use. You can upload PDFs, paste website links, insert YouTube links, or select documents from Google Drive.
- Wait for the upload to complete and for NotebookLM to process the document content.
- Locate the 'Notebook Guide' panel or the 'Audio Overview' section on the right side of the screen.
- Click the 'Customize' button before generating audio if you want to provide specific instructions (custom prompt) on what topics the AI should focus on.
- Click the 'Generate' button to start creating an interactive podcast between two AI personas based on your source material.
- Once the audio is generated, click the 'Play' button or enter the interactive mode (Join the masterpiece/conversation).
- Use the voice function to interrupt the conversation and ask questions directly, such as requesting a summary or an explanation of a specific character.
- Check the center of the screen for 'follow-up questions' suggested by the AI based on your document sources if you need ideas for what to ask.
