Steps to Create an Interactive Study Aid in NotebookLM

  1. Go to notebooklm.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
  2. Click the '+ New Notebook' button on the main dashboard to start a new learning project.
  3. In the 'Add sources' window, choose the type of source you want to use. You can upload PDFs, paste website links, insert YouTube links, or select documents from Google Drive.
  4. Wait for the upload to complete and for NotebookLM to process the document content.
  5. Locate the 'Notebook Guide' panel or the 'Audio Overview' section on the right side of the screen.
  6. Click the 'Customize' button before generating audio if you want to provide specific instructions (custom prompt) on what topics the AI should focus on.
  7. Click the 'Generate' button to start creating an interactive podcast between two AI personas based on your source material.
  8. Once the audio is generated, click the 'Play' button or enter the interactive mode (Join the masterpiece/conversation).
  9. Use the voice function to interrupt the conversation and ask questions directly, such as requesting a summary or an explanation of a specific character.
