The Benefits of Project-Specific Memory
Each project has 'self-contained' memory. This means the Custom Instructions you set in one project will not interfere with or affect how Claude behaves in other projects.
Efficient File Organization
Think of Claude Projects as smart folders. In addition to saving chats, it stores reference files permanently within the project, so you don't have to upload the same files repeatedly across different chats.
Step by Step
How to Set Up and Manage Claude Projects
- Log in to your Claude account and navigate to the 'Projects' section in the main menu.
- Click the 'Create Project' button to create a new project folder.
- Give your project a specific name to keep your workspace organized.
- Click on the 'Instructions' section within the project to enter your custom instructions.
- Type the specific instructions or 'Project Memory' you want Claude to follow for every chat within this project.
- Click the 'Add Content' button or the attachment icon to upload reference files related to the project.
- Start a new chat within the project; Claude will automatically use the memory and uploaded files as conversation context.
