Step by Step
How to Enable and Import Memory into Claude
- Open the Claude app or website and go to 'Settings'.
- Toggle ON all options related to 'Memory' so Claude can refer to past chats and generate memories automatically.
- Locate the memory section and click the 'Start Import' button.
- Copy the special prompt provided in the import window.
- Open your current source chatbot (such as ChatGPT or Gemini).
- Paste the prompt into the ChatGPT/Gemini chat box and hit send.
- Wait for the chatbot to generate a summary including your identity, career, projects, and communication preferences.
- Copy the entire output text generated by ChatGPT/Gemini.
- Return to the Claude window and paste the information into the provided field.
- Click the 'Add to Memory' button to update your Claude memory database.
